Mortice Keys

Mortice keys open the locks set into the thickness of a door, including deadlocks and sashlocks on timber front, back and internal doors. They are typically lever keys with a round shank and a bit with steps cut into it, and the number of levers, usually 2, 3 or 5, affects which key fits.Check the lock faceplate on the door edge for a brand name and a lever count, such as a 5 lever marking, and look for a code stamped on the key bow. Compatible mortice keys can also be ordered by photographing your existing key through our key scan service. If you have lost all keys to a front door deadlock, or you are unsure who else holds them, a locksmith changing the lock is the safer option. Some insurers specify particular mortice lock standards on external doors, so check your policy when replacing locks.
